About This Course

The Swara Yoga Basic Course is the entry point into one of the most profound sciences of ancient India — the science of Swara, the rhythmic breath that governs every dimension of life. This course lays the complete foundation for understanding how the flow of Prana through the Ida, Pingala and Sushumna Nadis connects the individual to cosmic time, health, relationships, destiny and spiritual evolution.

Rooted in the Shiva Swarodaya and the broader Shaiva Agamic tradition, this course presents the knowledge in a clear, systematic and practical manner. Students do not merely study the theory — they learn to observe, feel and work with the living breath as the most direct instrument of self-knowledge and transformation.

By the end of this course, the student will be able to identify their dominant Nadi at any moment, recognise the active Tattva through direct observation, apply Swara Yoga principles to daily decisions, health and spiritual practice, and build the foundation required to progress to the Intermediate level.

Course Curriculum

Module 01
Swara Shastra
Introduction to the sacred scripture of Swara — its origin, lineage, and place within the Shaiva Agamic tradition. Understanding why Swara Yoga is called the King of all sciences.
Module 02
Agama and Tantra
The Agamic and Tantric roots of Swara Yoga. The relationship between Shiva, Shakti, creation and breath. How Swara Yoga fits within the living tradition of Shaiva Tantra.
Module 03
School of Agama
A survey of the Agamic schools and their teachings on breath, body and cosmos. The transmission lineage of Swara Yoga from Lord Shiva through Parvati and into the human realm.
Module 04
Concept of Life in Swarodaya
How the Shiva Swarodaya defines life — the relationship between breath, Prana, consciousness and time. The meaning of birth, death and rebirth through the lens of Swara Yoga.
Module 05
Kaal and Kali — Structure and Function of Time
The cosmic structure of time — from the breath cycle to the lunar cycle to cosmic Mahakala. Understanding Kali as the Shakti of time and how Swara Yoga allows the practitioner to work consciously within time.
Module 06
Kaal Rahasya — The Secret of Time
The secret teachings on time embedded in the Swara Shastra. How breath duration, rhythm and quality correspond to past, present and future. Practical methods for reading time through breath.
Module 07
Karma Cycle and Swara
The relationship between Karma and the breath cycle. How past Karma expresses itself through the dominant Nadi. How conscious Swara practice can purify and re-direct Karmic tendencies.
Module 08
Overcoming Individual Destiny
How the science of Swara empowers the practitioner to transcend deterministic Karma and consciously shape their destiny. Practical techniques for shifting unfavourable life patterns through breath awareness.
Module 09
Breath, Soul and God
The profound teaching that breath is the living connection between the individual soul (Jivatma) and the Supreme (Paramatma). The experience of the divine through conscious breathing practice.
Module 10
Breath — The Primal Force & Dimensions of Breath
Breath as the first and last act of life. The physical and subtle dimensions of breath — the gross breath (Sthula Prana) and the subtle pranic force (Sukshma Prana). How to sense and work with both dimensions.
Module 11
Breath and Mudra
The relationship between hand gestures (Mudra), body positions and the quality of the breath. Practical Mudras used in conjunction with Swara Yoga for specific effects on Nadi and Prana.
Module 12
Nadi Sodhan — Purification of Nadis
The systematic practice of Nadi Shodhan Pranayama in the context of Swara Yoga. Understanding which Nadi is blocked, why, and how to purify it. The role of Nadi purity in health, clarity and sadhana.
Module 13
Identification of Tattva
How to identify the five Tattvas (Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Ether) active in the breath at any moment — through touch, smell, sight, sound and physical sensation. Practical exercises for Tattva identification.
Module 14
Mandala Energy — Types of Nadis
The 72,000 Nadis of the subtle body — the Physical Nadis of the nervous system and the subtle pranic channels. The three principal Nadis (Ida, Pingala, Sushumna) and their qualities. Mandala energy cycles and how to harness them.
Module 15
Applications in Daily Life & Swara Cycles
Complete practical application of Swara Yoga: timing of activities, decisions, health practices, meditation and relationships according to the active Nadi and Tattva. The Rising from Bed Sadhana — the first and most foundational daily Swara practice.
