About This Course

The Swara Yoga Intermediate Course takes the practitioner from foundational understanding into direct experience of the Pranic body. Having established the ability to identify the active Nadi and Tattva in the Basic Course, the student now learns to work consciously with the five Pranas (Panch Prana) and to navigate the subtle body through the 16 stages of consciousness described in the Swara Shastra.

This level is where Swara Yoga begins to reveal its deeper transformative power. The student learns to balance Prana-Apana — the two principal pranic forces of the body — through specific sadhana practices, and gains a thorough understanding of how the subtle body's cycle of Nadis and Tattvas governs experience at every level.

This course is available only to those who have completed the Basic Course and maintained a consistent daily sadhana. The Intermediate Course deepens the practice significantly and prepares the student for the mastery work of the Advance level.

Course Curriculum

Module 01
Nadis and Prana — The Deeper Study
An in-depth exploration of the Nadi system beyond the three principal channels. The network of 72,000 Nadis, their functions and how they relate to the organs, glands and nervous system. How Prana flows through this network and what determines its quality and quantity.
Module 02
Panch Prana Awakening
The five Pranas — Prana, Apana, Samana, Udana and Vyana — their locations, functions and relationships. Specific awakening practices for each of the five Pranas. How the awakening of Panch Prana transforms health, vitality, clarity and spiritual awareness.
Module 03
Prana Balance
Understanding pranic imbalance as the root of physical, mental and emotional disturbance. Diagnostic methods for assessing Prana balance through the breath. Specific Swara Yoga practices for restoring and maintaining pranic equilibrium in the context of daily life.
Module 04
16 Stages of Consciousness in Nadis
The Swara Shastra describes 16 progressive states of consciousness — from gross physical awareness to the threshold of Samadhi — each corresponding to a specific quality of Nadi flow. This module maps these 16 stages and gives the practitioner methods to identify and intentionally move through them.
Module 05
Prana-Apana Sadhana
The most important practical module of the Intermediate level. Prana and Apana are the two fundamental forces of life — inward-upward and downward-outward. Their alignment creates perfect health and pranic power. Their conflict causes decay and disease. This sadhana balances and unites them — a direct preparation for Kundalini awakening.
Module 06
Subtle Body Cycle of Nadis and Tattvas
The complete cyclical mapping of Nadi and Tattva activity through the day, month and lunar cycle as experienced through the subtle body. How to read the subtle body's cycle directly through breath, and how to align one's activities, sadhana and decisions with these natural rhythms for maximum effectiveness and harmony.

What You Will Gain

Panch Prana Mastery

Direct awareness and control of all five Pranic forces that govern the body-mind system.

Consciousness Navigation

Ability to identify which of the 16 stages of consciousness is active and how to move intentionally through them.

Pranic Health

Practical tools for diagnosing and correcting pranic imbalance — addressing the root of physical and mental disturbance.

Prana-Apana Sadhana

A powerful daily sadhana for unifying the two fundamental Pranic forces — the foundation for advanced Kriya practice.

Eightfold Division of Breath

Deep understanding of the eight distinct aspects of breath — each unfolding within specific Nadis — revealing how the breath carries different pranic qualities and governs particular dimensions of experience in the subtle body.

Prāṇa Tattva Antariksha Dhāraṇā

The awakening of Prāṇa within the subtle body in the inner space — a profound Dhāraṇā practice performed after Tattva Laya, in which dissolved elemental energies give way to the direct experience of Prāṇa in Antariksha, the inner sky of consciousness.

"When the Pranas are balanced and the Nadis are pure, the yogi becomes a master of time, health and destiny — and the door of Sushumna opens naturally."

— Swami Charanashrit Giri Maharaj
